YOU FLY - TRIAL INTRODUCTORY FLIGHT (TIF)
Learning to fly a tailwheel aircraft produces a pilot with better hands on flying competency. This is why at Stick ‘n Rudder we use tailwheel aircraft from the beginning.
Stick ‘n Rudder is here to open your eyes to the world above and make your dream of flight become a reality. Our Trial Introductory Flight (TIF) is the designed to give you that first taste of what it is like to be a pilot and the first step towards your Recreational Pilot Certificate and if you are looking to progress into commercial aviation, it is the most cost effective way to start. Our instructors will track your progress and offer ongoing support both in the air and on the ground.
- Wondering what to expect in your first flight?
- Start-up procedure – Following a checklist with a senior instructor to pre-flight the Eurofox and get the engine started.
- Taxiing – Movement of the Aircraft on ground from the hangar to the runway in use.
- Take-off – You will take off from the active runway and climb to an assigned altitude you work out in pre-flight planning with your instructor.
- Departure – Depart Caboolture and head over to the beautiful coastline!
- Straight and level – Feel the different aerodynamic forces when leveling out from a climb.
- Returning to Caboolture – You and your instructor will fly the aircraft and join the circuit according to the local airport requirements.
- Joining Circuit & Landing – Your instructor will set up the aircraft on approach for landing and demonstrate the correct landing technique.

How long is the experience?
Allow around 1 hour and 15 minutes for this experience. The flight component will see you in the air for around 45 minutes.
How old must you be?
There is no legal minimum age, however you must be able to be securely fastened into the aeroplane, reach the controls and be able to understand the instructions. Generally we recommend this experience for ages 12 years and up.
