Are you ready to pilot the beaches of Moreton Island?
It's easier than you think!

After some inflight training, our experienced instructors will have you climbing, descending and turning through the skies of Moreton Bay in no time. This flight starts out by tracking east over Moreton Bay. During this phase of the flight you’ll learn how to maintain straight and level, followed by descending, as we approach the shoreline of Moreton Island. Upon reaching the Island you’ll see Fort Cowan Cowan, a World War 1 anti-aircraft emplacement - don’t worry they’re definitely not operational! Here you’ll be introduced to the art of the stick and rudder flying when you make a right turn and navigate the coastline south towards the Tangalooma shipwrecks.

Challenge the instructor to see how much sea-life you count as there isn't a shortage! Turtles, dungeons and even the occasional shark. Now it’s our turn to show you what skills you could learn by becoming a pilot as we side-slip our way into an exclusive beach airfield, only suitable to aircraft like ours. After touch-down we’ll have a quick bite to eat (a hangry pilot is never a good idea), debrief and capture a few pictures of our adventure so far. Using the short-field capabilities of our aircraft we’ll take off from the beach strip and then fly northbound along the eastern coast of the island, checking out the surf and Cape Moreton Lighthouse.

This flight has been designed for those who have a desire to experience what it's like to be a pilot. You will have the opportunity to take control of the aeroplane whilst under the guidance of an experienced Stick ‘n Rudder instructor. Enjoy climbing, descending and turning over some of the best scenery south-east Queensland has to offer. You'll even have the option of landing at one of exclusive bush strips.

Stick ‘n Rudder was formed to help pilots safely explore locations and adventure places in an aircraft that others haven’t before.

See what it’s like to learn to fly with us and explore off the beaten track. This flight experience is designed for pilots who have commenced their flight training or currently hold a licence that are considering exploring the more remote parts of this country in a tailwheel aircraft.

After a short briefing (tailored to you) on some of the additional factors to consider when operating from bush strips we'll depart to the west and enjoy flying off some of our exclusive bush strips. These strips vary in complexity, some with level surfaces and good approaches with others limited to single direction takeoffs/landings and sloping surfaces.
