The 180 Man

Guy Kendall, a well known experienced pilot has joined Stick ‘n Rudder to enhance and develop those aviation skills for our students ready for more in our Cessna 180. What or who inspired you to learn to fly?

The birds seem to really enjoy it.

How old were you when you got your license?

I must have been old enough, I guess.

Other than flight instructing at Stick ‘n Rudder, what other type of flying have you done in the past?

Mostly straight and level.

Tell us about your first solo. Where were you? What was going through your head?

Hope I don’t mess this up.

What has been your greatest achievement so far when it comes to flying?

Getting consistent good landings in the Cessna 180.

What has been your greatest challenge so far when it comes to flying?

Getting consistent good landings in the Cessna 180.

Who has been your biggest inspiration during your flying career?

My late father.

Flying a plane is one thing - teaching someone how to fly a plane is another! What made you want to become an instructor?

I really enjoy helping others learn from my mistakes.

What’s your favourite thing about being part of the Stick ‘n Rudder team?

Good gang and good coffee.

If you could give yourself one piece of advice when you were first learning to fly, what would it be?

Flare gently.

Where’s your favourite place to fly in Australia?

Southeast Queensland.

If you could fly yourself around any part of the world, where would it be?

South America.

If you could fly ANY plane, what would it be?

Pilatus Porter.

Do you have a funny story to share that is flying related?

If only I could remember!
